65-Year-Old Bakersfield Resident Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Castaic Road [Castaic, CA]

60-Year-Old Tujunga Driver Involved in Fatal Traffic Collision near Interstate 5

Castaic, CA (March 4, 2023) – On Thursday evening, a deadly pedestrian crash on Castaic Road claimed the life of a 65-year-old Bakersfield resident.

Authorities say that the fatal traffic collision happened around 8:55 p.m. on the east shoulder of Castaic Road, south of the Interstate 5 southbound overcrossing. 

Reports stated that a northbound 2017 Audi A4 struck the pedestrian who was walking northbound on Castaic Road. Officials say that a 60-year-old Tujunga resident was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Moreover, officials say that the driver was not able to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The impact of the collision caused the pedestrian to hit the front windshield.  

LACFD responded to the scene and medics provided aid to both parties. 2 ambulances transported both parties to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. However, officials pronounced the pedestrian dead at the hospital.

Officials are investigating the fatal pedestrian crash and have not released additional details about the incident.
