1 Injured in Tumwater Car Crash on 5 Freeway
TUMWATER, WA (January 31, 2020) – A 64-year-old woman required hospitalization after a rollover car crash on 5 Freeway on January 29.
The incident happened around 7:45 a.m. near milepost 101 at Tumwater Boulevard, the Washington State Department of Transportation revealed.
The woman drove a Jeep Cherokee that overturned onto its side on the right shoulder, stated Trooper Johnna Batiste. Authorities believe that speed possibly played a role in the crash. However, responders took the woman to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia with non-life-threatening injuries.
“We are expected to continue to have rainy weather through the rest of the week,” Batiste added. “We encourage drivers to slow down and remember the speed limit is created for perfect roadway conditions, meaning bare and dry.”
Staying within the lanes of the road is an extremely important rule of the road. If you feel yourself drifting into other lanes due to fatigue or any other reason, safely pull over. In addition, rest before continuing to drive. You can also call a friend or an Uber to pick you up if you feel like it would be unsafe to drive.
