62-Year-Old EunHee Sims Dies in DUI Crash on Hesperia Road [Hesperia, CA]

Hesperia, CA (October 28, 2021) – On Tuesday, 62-year-old EunHee Sims of McArthur died, and 62-year-old while Joe Martinez of Colton suffered injuries in a DUI crash on Hesperia Road.

Officers said Martinez, the 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser driver was northbound on Hesperia Road when his vehicle veered into the southbound lane.

As a result, his vehicle crashed head-on with the 2008 Honda CRV. 

When the authorities arrived, they pronounced Sims dead at the scene.

On the other hand, Martinez was left trapped in his vehicle.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate him and rushed him by ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital. Subsequently, the paramedics airlifted him to a trauma center for treatment of unknown injuries. 

Moreover, officers said that Martinez was swerving and appeared to be intoxicated, nearly crashed with his wife’s vehicle moments before the fatal crash

“Luckily she was able to swerve off into the dirt and avoided a collision,” the officer stated.

The investigating officers said Martinez was wanted for an on-going felony criminal threats investigation against family members. However, he fled the residence before deputies arrived.

Meanwhile, the authorirties are currently trying to determine if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the accident.
