Fatalities Reported in Tonopah Auto Accident on Interstate 10
TONOPAH, AZ (July 4, 2021) – Friday afternoon, a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 10 in Tonopah led to fatalities.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 1:20 p.m. Bart Graves with DPS revealed that the semi-trick driver headed east. Then, it crashed into the back of a Nissan Altima.
The collision split the vehicle in half and caught fire. Five people inside the Nissan succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, a sixth person from the Nissan died on Saturday.
Apparently, a truck driver continued driving and struck an SUV. The vehicle had a young mother and four children occupants who were all taken to Valley hospitals with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the semi-truck driver suffered no injuries.
At this time, the authorities haven’t clarified whether impairment or speed played a role in the crash.
Also, they haven’t disclosed the identities of the victims.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continue to investigate the crash.
Also, DPS confirmed that the crash restricted the eastbound traffic in the area.
