Multiple Injuries Reported in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in Gilroy
GILROY, CA (June 23, 2019) – Six people were injured following a 2-vehicle crash late Sunday afternoon on Highway 101 near Highway 25.
The crash happened around 5:51 p.m. on southbound Highway 101, just South of Highway 25.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Scion car and a Tesla collided for unknown reasons. One of the vehicles caught fire and four people were trapped inside.
Arriving fIrefighters extinguished the fire and extricated the four trapped victims. A total of six patients were taken by ambulance to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
The Testa sustained major front-end damage, while the Scion had major rear-end damage. Both vehicles were towed away from the wreckage.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
