MISSION BAY, CA (August 20, 2020) – Early Wednesday morning, a 58-year-old man sustained injuries in a DUI crash on Mission Bay Drive.

The incident occurred at about 5:20 a.m. on East Mission Bay Drive between Clairemont Drive and SeaWorld Drive.

San Diego Police Officer Scott Lockwood revealed that a 21-year-old man drove on East Mission Bay Drive.

However, he lost control of the car and hit a parked vehicle on the east curb. The force of the crash sent the vehicle to crash into a third vehicle.

As a result, responders transported the man sleeping inside the second car. They took the victim to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for treatment of a severe brain bleed. At this time, updates about his condition are unavailable.

Meanwhile, the person sleeping in the third vehicle didn’t suffer any injury. On the other hand, authorities arrested the 21-year-old man on suspicion of DUI. The authorities didn’t disclose his identity.

May this incident be a reminder for all motorists to drive responsibly. Drivers should also keep in mind that distracted driving, speeding, and failing to yield will lead to dangerous road accidents.
