Santa Rosa, CA (March 22, 2024) – On Thursday morning, a 57-year-old pedestrian sustained injuries in a crash on Mendocino Avenue.

A vehicle struck a pedestrian, severely injuring him, as he crossed a road in north Santa Rosa on Thursday morning, according to authorities. 

The Santa Rosa Police Department received a report at 8:15 a.m. that a southbound vehicle on Mendocino Avenue near Fountaingrove Parkway had hit the man, said agency spokesperson Sgt. Patricia Seffens. 

Police believe that the 57-year-old Benicia resident was not in a crosswalk at the time of the incident.

Emergency services transported him to a hospital with major head injuries. Sgt. Seffens informed The Press Democrat on Friday that the vehicle’s driver, a 29-year-old Windsor woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. 

She also noted that alcohol and drug impairment do not seem to be factors in the collision.

Officers closed a stretch of Mendocino Avenue for about two hours to investigate the scene. Police have asked anyone who witnessed the collision to contact investigator John Fisher at 707-543-3600, ext. 85508.
