1 Dead in Bakersfield Car Accident on Highway 99

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 25, 2020) – Saturday night, a 55-year-old man died in a crash on Highway 99 in Bakersfield.
 
The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Highway 99, south of Highway 166.
 
The officers responded to the 2007 Mercedes and tractor/trailer crash. Upon their arrival, they found out that the Mercedes driver stopped to the right shoulder. Then, it suddenly accelerated to the left directly to the path of the tractor/trailer. After the crash, the Mercedes stopped in the center median. Meanwhile, the tractor/trailer stopped in the number one and two lanes.
 
Officials declared the man deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, responders took a woman to Kern Medical.
 
Furthermore, the CHP revealed that alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
Moreover, the incident shut down multiple lanes Saturday night. However, the lanes have reopened early Sunday morning.
