Seattle Crash Kills Pedestrian, Driver Arrested
Seattle, WA (September 11, 2021) – On Thursday, a 55-year-old man died in a hit-and-run crash on Aurora Avenue North.
The accident took place minutes before midnight near the intersection with North 46th Street.
Witnesses said a pickup driver sped past them traveling north and they saw a person down in the road.
When the paramedics arrived, they declared the 55-year-old man dead at the accident scene.
As the driver fled north on Aurora Avenue, officers spotted him driving without his lights on. The authorities tried to pull the driver over, but he did not stop, so the chase began.
When the suspect driver neared South 272nd Street in Federal Way, officers were able to stop the pickup using a pursuit intervention technique.
Finally, officers arrested the 38-year-old driver and booked him into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide.
Officers also suspect the driver of driving under the influence.
