1 Dead and 1 Injured in Rincon Car Accident
RINCON, CA (March 15, 2019) – A 54-year-old trucker died while his passenger sustained injuries in a big rig collision on March 14.
The CHP revealed that the Peterbilt flatbed tractor-trailer driver lost control of his vehicle due to speeding. The tractor-trailer traveled west on Highway 76 in Pauma Valley shortly after 8:00 a.m.
The car, hauling bags of landscaping mulch, rolled over and went down a roadside ditch. As a result, the trucker and his passenger got stuck in the wreckage near Rincon Ranch Road.
Authorities pronounced the truck driver died at the scene. However, his identity remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
The emergency crews released the 55-year-old passenger from the wreckage. Medical responders flew the injured passenger to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido to receive treatment, CHP public-affairs Officer Kevin Smale said.
Due to the crash, authorities shut down lanes in the area in the midafternoon.
