San Jose Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 near McKee Road
SAN JOSE, CA (October 26, 2019) – A 54-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 101, Saturday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near McKee Road, at about 3:35 AM. Due to unknown reasons, a northbound Chevrolet Cobalt swerved left and cut across several lanes. Then, a late 1990s Mercedes SUV struck the Cobalt on its left rear corner.
The impact of the collision caused the Cobalt to go back across all lanes before coming to a stop on the shoulder of the highway. Meanwhile, the SUV lost control before rebounding to the right shoulder in front of the Cobalt.
Emergency responders rushed the Cobalt driver to a hospital with serious injuries. Unfortunately, he succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, the SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
