Fatal Vehicle Collision on 224th Street East
Spanaway, WA (July 15, 2022) – On Wednesday afternoon, a 53-year-old Roy man lost his life in a vehicle crash on State Route 7.
The fatal collision happened at about 12:22 p.m. at 224th Street East.
According to the investigators, the Roy man was driving a Ford F-450 and was not wearing a seat belt.
At the same time, a 78-year-old Eatonville man was driving a Jeep Cherokee and turning left onto the highway driving north.
As the Eatonville man turned, the Roy man was southbound on the freeway.
The Ford F-450 struck the Jeep Cherokee.
The Ford spun and the Roy man was thrown from his vehicle.
Finally, the two vehicles rested on the northbound shoulder of the freeway. Both of vehicles were totaled.
Immediately, the rescuers rushed both of the drivers to St. Joseph’s Medical Center with injuries.
Sadly, the Roy man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
According to the investigators, the Eatonville man was at fault for failing to yield to the Ford.
Officers say drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the fatal collision on 224th Street East.
