Injuries Reported in Petaluma Pedestrian Accident on Highway 101 and Washington Street
PETALUMA, CA (July 27, 2022) – Tuesday, a 52-year-old man sustained injuries in a pedestrian crash on Highway 101 and Washington Street.
The incident occurred at around 12:20 p.m. on Highway 101 and Washington Street.
According to reports, a big rig driver headed south and entered the left exit lane of Washington Street. As the driver veered left, his trailer struck the man who’d been sitting on the side of the offramp.
Officials noted that pedestrians are not allowed on offramps.
After the crash, responders took the man to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the involved driver stayed at the scene and has been cooperative with the investigation.
All lanes have since reopened.
If you feel yourself drifting into other lanes due to fatigue or any other reason, safely pull over and rest before continuing to drive. You can also call a friend or an Uber to pick you up if you feel like it would be unsafe to drive.
Ways to Deal with Pedestrian Accidents
Each year, around 20-50 million people are injured or disabled due to a crash. To avoid suffering from such incidents, practice safe driving habits on the road at all times.
As a driver, it’s your responsibility to do it even when it is empty, even when there is no police officer around to make sure you make, say, a complete stop.
Even with the best driving habits, it is still important to know what to do if you find yourself in a motor vehicle accident.
Steve Baric of Sweet Lawyers says, “The most valuable step you can take in response to a vehicle crash is hiring a personal injury attorney. Personal injury attorneys prioritize your recovery. At the same time, they will secure your future from further losses a severe accident can bring.”
