Semi-Truck Driver Injured in Fatal Crash on I-5
Kent, WA (July 3, 2022) On Thursday, a 51-year-old Tacoma man died in a 3-vehicle crash on Interstate 5.
According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the fatal 3-vehicle crash happened around 3:45 p.m. near the state Route 516 exit.
Reports say that a slowly driving Ford Fusion tried to merge into the right lane.
A semi-truck struck the merging Ford and the impact forced the car into the adjacent lane where another big rig hit the vehicle.
Moreover, WSP Troopers pronounced the Tacoma driver dead at the scene, while the 2nd semi-truck driver sustained minor injuries.
Afterward, the fatal crash on I-5 caused a 3-hour blockage. Both semi-trucks were able on I-5’s right shoulder. Meanwhile, the Ford wreckage was blocking the first 2 lanes.
Troopers are investigating the collision and have ruled out impairment as a factor in the crash.
