Driver Dies after Crashing with Pickup Truck on Highway 168 in Clovis
CLOVIS, CA (December 16, 2019) – A 50-year-old Clovis woman was killed following a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Highway 168, CHP officials said.
The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. at Academy Oaks Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2015 Jeep Renegade when she turned east onto the highway. She failed to see a 2000 Ford F-350 and pulled directly into the path of the pickup truck.
The driver in the Ford was unable to avoid the Jeep and collided with it. The impact caused both vehicles to careen onto the north shoulder of the highway.
Officers arrived to find the woman with major injures and began to perform CPR.
Paramedics air-lifted the woman to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of her family members.
Both drivers were wearing their seats belts.
Authorities said drugs, alcohol or weather did not appear to be a factor in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
