Driver Dies after Ejected from Crash, Hit by Another Car on Highway 99 in Manteca
MANTECA, CA (February 14, 2020) – A man died after being ejected from his vehicle and struck by a car Friday afternoon in Manteca.
The fatal crash happened just before 5:00 p.m. on Highway 99.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 50-year-old man was driving north on Highway 99 when he crashed into the concrete center median. The man, who was not wearing his seat belt, was ejected into the southbound lanes of the highway.
A 2016 Toyota, driven by Constance Schlotthauer, then struck the man.
Paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of his family members.
CHP said Schlotthauer stayed on scene and cooperated with authorities.
It is unclear if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this crash.
Crews closed three lanes of Highway 99 until before 8:00 p.m. for the investigation.
