Field Worker Trapped Under Big Rig in Highway 198 Crash
Fresno, CA (May 07, 2021) – On Thursday, a 50-year-old Ford truck driver died in a crash on Highway 198.
The fatal accident happened at 2:47 pm at Highway 198 near 28th Avenue.
Officers said two field workers in a Ford truck were on a dirt road coming from the fields. The truck was approaching Highway 198.
Its driver pulled out in front of a westbound semi-truck. The impact of the crash caused the driver and the passenger to be ejected from the truck.
The driver became trapped underneath the big rig, and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, rescuers airlifted the 55-year-old passenger to the Community Regional Medical Center in downtown Fresno in critical condition.
Apparently, the officers said both men were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
On the other hand, the big rig driver sustained minor injuries, and was also taken to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
