Shane Carlyle Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash on Interstate 5 near Sacramento International Airport
SACRAMENTO, CA (June 18, 2019) – A 5-year-old boy lost his life in a DUI crash on Interstate 5, Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near the Sacramento International Airport, at about 9:00 PM. A Nissan pickup had been driving down the interstate when a speeding BMW hit it. The impact pushed the pickup truck off the road and down an embankment. Then, it overturned and landed in a field.
Emergency responders transported the Nissan driver, identified as 29-year-old Luis Figueroa, and his three children, ages 5, 7, and, 10, to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries. Unfortunately, his son died in the crash.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested 34-year-old Shane Carlyle of Sacramento on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence. He will be booked into the Yolo County Jail after receiving treatment.
An investigation is ongoing to determine other possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
