5 Hurt in Snoqualmie Car Accident
SNOQUALMIE, WA (May 29, 2019) – Five people sustained injuries in a wrong-way crash on 90 Freeway on May 27.
Authorities received a 911 call about 6:12 p.m. reporting an attack and potential kidnapping incident at the North Bend outlet malls. According to some witnesses, a woman near a white van was yelled, “I don’t want to get into this vehicle” and was being attacked, Trooper Rick Johnson with the WSP said.
While officers came to the area, a wildlife officer noticed a white van driving erratically on 90 Freeway west at milepost 29. Uninformed of the initial 911 report, the officer tried to stop the van. A Snoqualmie officer came to both of them and a police chase started.
“The (van) was in and out of traffic,” Johnson stated. “Was going on the Snoqualmie Valley Parkway in the wrong lanes a couple of times. Eventually he got on I-90 going west in the eastbound lanes where the vehicle struck a blue passenger car.”
The female and male occupants in the van, together with three other occupants from the blue car, all sustained injuries. Medical responders transported them to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Due to the crash, all eastbound lanes on the freeway remained close for an hour. After 8:00 p.m., one lane reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
