Two-Car Collision on Rancho Del Oro Drive and Mesa Drive Injures 5 People
Oceanside, CA (July 14, 2020) – On Monday afternoon, 5 people were injured in a two-car collision on Rancho Del Oro Drive and Mesa Drive.
The accident happened at about 4:25 p.m. when one of the vehicles ran a red light, causing the collision.
The vehicle then flipped and landed upside down after hitting another car that was about to turn on a green light.
Moreover, rescuers freed 2 people who were trapped in one vehicle and another one person trapped in the other car.
Reports said that 5 people were injured, wherein 3 of them sustained serious injuries.
Meanwhile, Medics airlifted an 11-year-old child to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, and the other two victims were airlifted to other hospitals.
Also, the two other victims had moderate injuries, rescuers took them by ambulance to hospitals.
All 5 victims were expected to survive.
Investigators don’t believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. They are investigating a possible mechanical issue with the car that ran the red light.
Authorities closed the intersection for more than four hours until it was reopened around 8:30 p.m.
