Stolen Vehicle Flees and Collides with SUV and Three Parked Cars near West 10th Avenue
ESCONDIDO, CA (July 15, 2018) – Five people were injured Sunday evening after an SUV crashed into a home on South Quince Street.
According to the Escondido Police, the incident took place shortly after 6:40 PM, in the 1000 block of South Quince Street near West 10th Avenue. Officers spotted a red Hyundai Elantra at West 9th Avenue and South Spruce Street that was reported stolen earlier that day and attempted to stop the vehicle.
While attempting to flee from the police, the driver of the Elantra broadsided a Honda CRV after running a stop sign. The impact caused the CRV to crash into the side of a nearby home, while the Elantra spun out of control before slamming into three parked cars.
The female driver of the CRV and her two young passengers were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the two men in the suspected stolen vehicle were taken to Palomar Medical Center Escondido with unspecified injuries. There is no update on the current condition of either person involved.
As per reports, the structure of the house was not affected by the crash, but the parked vehicles sustained considerable damage.
