1 Dead and Several Injured in Nuevo 5-Vehicle Pileup Accident on Ramona Expressway
NUEVO, CA (February 9, 2021) – Monday afternoon, five people suffered injuries in a fatal multi-vehicle accident on Ramona Expressway near Lakeview Avenue.
The five-vehicle crash occurred around 4:10 p.m. on the Ramona Expressway, near Lakeview Avenue.
According to officers, the crash involved a tractor-trailer and a mix of other vehicles on the two-lane corridor.
Later reports claim Kieran McCall, 29, of Beaumont drove the big rig that started the chain-reaction crash.
Furthermore, the CHP added that the big rig fell on an embankment but didn’t overturn.
An occupant from one of the vehicles involved was thrown off on the road. Subsequently, the Riverside County Fire Department paramedics declared the person dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the CHP officers closed both sides of the Expressway as first responders treated the injured parties and clean up the scene.
By 5:00 p.m., the closure was still in effect.
Responders took most of the patients to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment. Also, another one was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar.
Ultimately, the injuries sustained in the crash ranged from moderate to major.
