Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Washington Avenue and Grape Street
ESCONDIDO, CA (January 20, 2020) – A 49-year-old man was killed in a pedestrian crash Monday night in Escondido, police said.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Grape Street.
According to Escondido police, the man was crossing Washington Avenue northbound at Grape Street when a 2007 Kia Spectra struck him.
Paramedics rushed him to Palomar Medical Center, when he was pronounced dead. His name was withheld pending family notification.
Meanwhile, the Kia driver, a 49-year-old Escondido woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Intoxication was not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
