43-year-old Woman Struck and Injured by Truck on 5 Freeway and Eight Mile Road [Stockton, CA]

1 Hospitalized after Stockton Car Accident

 
STOCKTON, CA (March 20, 2019) – A woman suffered major injuries after walking directly to an oncoming big rig on 5 Freeway on Monday afternoon.
 
The 43-year-old female driver parked her vehicle on the right shoulder of northbound 5 Freeway, north of Eight Mile Road by 4:07 p.m.
 
Witnesses said that the woman stood next to her car when a big-tractor trailer approached. Reports revealed that the woman walked directly into the truck’s path. Unfortunately, the truck driver was not able to avoid colliding with the pedestrian.
 
As a result, the truck’s right side hit her and sent her several feet into the air.
 
Due to the crash, authorities shut down the No. 2 and 3 traffic lanes for around twenty minutes to help.
 
Meanwhile, medical responders took the victim to San Joaquin General Hospital for treatment. She is still recovering.
