41-Year-Old Andrew Lopez of Menifee Dies in Highway 79 Hit-and-Run [Winchester, CA]

Winchester, CA (May 04, 2022) On Saturday, 41-year-old Andrew Lopez from Menifee was fatally struck by an SUV on Highway 79.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal accident happened around 10:30 p.m. south of Scott Road.

Reports say that Lopez was walking along the highway when a Toyota Rav4 struck the pedestrian.

Officials say that they found broken vehicle parts at the scene.

The CHP says that a 71-year-old Temecula man was driving the SUV at the time of the crash.

Authorities found the suspect driver on a property in Hemet. Moreover, officers have determined that the driver was not impaired.

Eventually, officers arrested the driver and will be charged him with a felony hit-and-run.
