1 Killed in Hesperia Pedestrian Accident
HESPERIA, CA (January 3, 2020) – A 40-year-old homeless man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Hesperia Road on January 2.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m., on Hesperia Road and Mojave Street. First responders arrived after witnesses noticed debris on the northbound lanes of Hesperia Road.
Dispatchers immediately located the deceased male on the roadway upon arrival. “The unidentified male sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle,” sheriff’s officials revealed.
The crash led to the closure of the north and southbound lanes of Hesperia Road from Mojave to Lemon Street. However, the roadway eventually reopened around 8:00 a.m.
As of this time, it is still unclear whether speed or alcohol played a role in the crash. Furthermore, the identity of the deceased remains unreleased due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, the responding units included the Hesperia Police Department and Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). However, the crash currently remains under investigation.
