Abolanle Felock and 7-Year-Old Girl Injured in Fatal Fiery Crash on Highway 101 in San Rafael
SAN RAFAEL, CA (September 18, 2019) – A 4-year-old boy died at the hospital Saturday following a fiery crash on Highway 101 in San Rafael.
The crash happened Wednesday morning around 8:00 a.m. near St. Vincent Drive. According to reports, a 39-year-old Abolanle Felock of El Sobrante drove a white Toyota 4Runner with her two children, the 4-year-old boy and a 7-year old girl.
Felock was traveling north on Highway 101 at a high rate of speed in a left curve in the road when she struck the center divider. After that, the SUV then crossed all lanes of the highway and hit the left rear of another vehicle.
The Toyota went down a hill on the side of the road and caught fire. Three bystanders stopped and freed all three occupants from the burning vehicle.
Arriving paramedics rushed the children to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. However, the mother was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek.
Despite life-saving efforts, the young boy succumbed to his injuries three days after. However, his name has not yet been released.
Authorities said the 7-year-old girl was recovering well. The children’s mother is also expected to recover.
The girl is a student at Marin Christian Academy and the boy was a student at Noah’s Ark Preschool. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for the family.
The crash is still under investigation.
