4 People Extricated after Single-Vehicle Crash on Highway 166 near Tepusquet Road
Santa Maria, CA (June 22, 2020)– Emergency crews responded to a single-car crash on Highway 166 near Tepusquet Road on Saturday afternoon.
The report was received around 2:16 p.m. on June 20 on Highway 166 about two miles west of Tepusquet Road. CAL FIRE, Santa Barbara County Fire, Santa Maria Fire, and Los Padres National Forest are en route to the scene.
The crash left 4 people stuck inside the vehicle and in need of extrication, according to CAL FIRE. Currently, the severity of the victims’ sustained injuries is still unclear.
California Highway Patrol said that the car was hanging from the guardrail on the side of the highway. The CHP H-70 helicopter also helped in rescuing the victims of the crash.
Road Closure after Crash
As a result, the CHP is implementing a temporary road closure of the westbound lanes of the Highway. Furthermore, as of 3:50 p.m., the CHP also closed the eastbound lanes at Thompson Avenue near the US 101.
CHP reported that at about 4:32 p.m., the highway reopened again for the traffic.
