4 Hospitalized in Gold Bar Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 2

GOLD BAR, WA (December 8, 2020) – On Monday, four people sustained injuries in a DUI crash on Highway 2 in Gold Bar, Washington.

According to Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman, a 43-year-old man driving a westbound pickup truck veered into the shoulder lane. Then, it crashed with a Honda Fit parked on the side of the road near a disabled Honda CR-V.

The force of the crash pushed the Fit to crash into the CR-V. The Fit rolled over to its roof as a result of the crash.

Reports revealed that the four occupants of the Fit sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The 15-year-old driver and three adult passengers all wore seatbelts at the time of the incident. Moreover, the injuries sustained by all four victims were classified as serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene after the incident. Furthermore, a witness to the crash followed the suspect’s vehicle and called 911 to inform the authorities. Then, officers arrested the suspect in a neighborhood two miles away from the crash.

Axtman said that the arrested driver is facing investigation for DUI, vehicle assault, and hit-and-run.

The crash blocked the road at the scene. All motorists are advised to find alternate routes.

Always pay attention to other drivers, especially on busy freeways. Whenever you are behind the wheel of a vehicle, it is your responsibility to follow all traffic laws. Make sure to avoid distractions that can lead to serious auto accidents. As a driver, maintain a safe speed and only drive when you are alert and sober.
