4 Hurt in Bakersfield Crash on Highway 178
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 24, 2020) – Last Tuesday, four people sustained injuries in an auto accident on Highway 178.
According to reports, the crash involved four workes of the Bakersfield Homeless Center’s highway cleanup crew.
The California Highway Patrol revealed that before noon, crews pick up trash along Highway 178 with a Caltrans truck following behind them.
However, another car went off the road and sideswiped the Caltrans truck. Due to the impact, the truck continued and struck the workers.
As a result, the CHP confirmed that two workers sustained minor to moderate injuries. The third worker suffered major injuries. Meanwhile, the truck driver also complained of pain. Thus, responders transported all of them to Kern Medical for treatment.
Moreover, the driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated.
May this incident be a reminder for all motorists to drive responsibly. Drivers should also keep in mind that distracted driving, speeding, and failing to yield will lead to dangerous road accidents.
