Two Robbery Suspects Arrested after Chase Ends in Crash on 118 Freeway
PACOIMA, CA (November 11, 2019) – Four LAPD officers suffered injuries after a chase ended in a fiery crash on 118 Freeway, Monday morning.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened at about 4:30 AM. Officers spotted a stolen white Mercedes-Benz in the area of Foothill Boulevard and Wentworth Street in Sunland. Then, the officers attempted to pull over the driver.
The driver did not stop and instead led them on a chase on the northbound 210 Freeway. A short time later, the driver exited at Glenoaks Boulevard in Pacoima. She attempted to reenter the freeway, but the vehicle lost control and collided with an LAPD cruiser. Then, a second police SUV rear-ended the LAP cruiser.
The Mercedes-Benz caught fire and ended up on its roof near 118 Freeway. Multiple Los Angeles Fire Department units responded to the scene.
Emergency responders rushed four LAPD officers to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All injured officers are expected to survive.
Meanwhile, two women inside the Mercedes-Benz suffered minor injuries. Authorities later arrested them on suspicion of evading police officers as well as other potential pending charges. Officers also noted that at least one of the women involved is a suspect in an armed carjacking incident.
Strictly follow the rules of the road to ensure everyone’s safety. When pulled over, slow down and wait for further instructions. Do not attempt to flee the scene and cooperate with the authorities.
