Fatal Car Accident on Highway 33 in Los Banos
LOS BANOS, CA (May 26, 2019) – Four people were killed following a car accident on Memorial Day weekend in Los Banos, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened Sunday evening around 9:00 p.m. on Highway 33.
CHP officials said a 2017 Nissan Altima carrying four people was traveling eastbound when it lost control and crossed into the westbound lane and then onto a dirt shoulder before slamming into a tree.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, and his three passengers, a 22-year-old woman and two young boys, ages 9 and 2, were all pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have been withheld pending family notification.
They were all wearing seat belts and the toddler was in a car seat. All victims were Pomona residents.
It is unknown if speed or intoxication has played a role in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
