Traffic collisions are the leading cause of long-term disability in the United States. Statistics show that 78.3% of traffic accidents result in injury and 4.24% result in death. Thus, we must do our best to avoid traffic accidents.
Pay attention to your surroundings whenever driving. Abiding by all the driving laws and following all the road signs are simple ways to avoid traffic accidents.
Additionally, defensive driving plays a big role in ensuring the safety of both you and the other motorists and pedestrians on the road.
Dealing With the Aftermath of the Collision on 34th Street
Despite their scrupulous creation and mapping for efficient travel, highways are among the most dangerous places on earth. Consequently, everyone must remain calm to handle the situation effectively after a collision.
In fact, on the AAA Foundation website, Chief Executive Officer Peter Kissinger repeatedly labeled the epidemic of motor vehicle-related accidents a “public health crisis.”
The following are things we should remember if we are involved in an accident:
- Before anything else, seek medical attention if you or someone with you has been hurt.
- Get to a safe place to prevent further damage or injury.
- Collect as much information as possible, including insurance and contact information for people involved in the accident and pictures/videos of vehicles involved. Also, do not forget to document faults and whatever can be used as evidence.
- File a police report or incident report by calling 911.
