Multiple Hurt in Head-On Accident near Fanuel Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (September 9, 2018) – On Sunday afternoon, four people were injured in a possible DUI collision on Garnet Avenue.
According to reports, the crash occurred in the 1300 block of Garnet Avenue near Fanuel Street, just before 2:00 PM. The accident involved a black vehicle and a white car. Witnesses described hearing a big boom that sounded like a crash, before a black car quickly caught on fire. Two people inside of the fiery car were able to escape.
Bystanders ran to aid an older couple in the white car, but the doors were jammed. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the four injured parties to a hospital for treatment and evaluation. The extent of their injuries and current medical conditions were not immediately known.
Firefighters were called to the crash site to put out the fire from the black vehicle. Both vehicles sustained front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene. Authorities are still investigating the incident, and no additional information has been released to the public at this time.
