Accident Involving Ambulance at 40th Street and Waterman Ave Injures 4 in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (August 09, 2019) – An accident involving an ambulance on 40th Street and North Waterman Avenue left four people injured Thursday morning.
The San Bernardino County Fire officials said the accident occurred at about 9:40 a.m. In addition, it involved a San Bernardino County Fire Medic Ambulance 26 (MA26) stationed in Twin Peaks.
The ambulance was transporting a patient Code 3, lights and sirens, to a San Bernardino hospital when it collided with another vehicle. After that, the ambulance rolled onto its side from the impact. As a result, the crew notified dispatch and requested assistance. After that, firefighter paramedics subsequently rendered aid to the injured parties.
An ambulance patient, two SBCoFD ambulance operators, and the driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries. As a result, first responders transported all four to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigators said the ambulance personnel and the patient were in restraints and seatbelts at the time of the crash. However, it is unknown whether the driver of the other vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
As a result, the San Bernardino Police Department is investigating the accident.
