1 Dead in Big Sur Auto Accident on Highway 1
BIG SUR, CA (August 6, 2020) – On Monday afternoon, a 37-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash on Highway 1.
The CHP revealed that a female driver of a 2015 Honda parked on the west side of Highway 1 at around 2:00 p.m.
However, she thought that the southbound lane was clear and began making a U-turn into the northbound lanes of Highway 1. Unknowingly, she went into the path of the two motorcycles.
Reports stated that a 37-year-old Pacific Grove man riding a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle and a 61-year-old Monterey man on a 2015 BMW motorcycle headed south. They both traveled at around 55 mph as they entered the Garrapata Creek Bridge. Unfortunately, they couldn’t stop in time and crashed into the driver’s side of the 2015 Honda.
As a result, the 37-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, the 610year-old rider sustained minor injuries. Also, the authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs as factors of the crash.
During this tragic time, we would like to send our sincere sympathies to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
Filing a Wrongful Death Case For The Victim
Motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of unintentional injury deaths in California.
It is clear now more than ever that one person’s negligence can have devastating effects on other individuals. This is quite common in accidents that result in death.
The family of the victim is likely entitled to significant compensation via a wrongful death claim.
A wrongful death suit is a step towards recovering from the death of a family member.
