Driver Injured in I-10 Fatal Crash
Fontana, CA (January 3, 2024) – A 32-year-old male rider from Bloomington was killed in an Interstate 10 collision on New Year’s Eve.
It was about 8:24 p.m. on December 31 when the fatal crash unfolded on the eastbound freeway, west of Cherry Avenue.
Officers said the man was riding his 2005 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle at a high rate of speed while eastbound on the No. 2 lane of the freeway.
The rider’s excessive speed caused the motorcycle to rear-end a 2010 Nissan Maxima driven by a 33-year-old Las Vegas resident.
As a result, the rider was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the No. 2 lane wherein another vehicle ran over him and an ensuing vehicle crashed into the Kawasaki.
The emergency responders rushed the rider to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Fontana where he was declared dead.
Similarly, the Nissan driver was also taken to the same hospital with minor injuries.
Officers do not suspect alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
