30-Year-Old Passenger Killed in Fiery Crash on Interstate 5 [Bakersfield, CA]

Bakersfield, CA (June 7, 2024) – A 30-year-old Lebec man was killed in a fiery vehicle crash on Interstate 5 Monday evening.

It was before 6:30 p.m. when the deadly collision happened on the northbound freeway, north of Frazier Mountain Park Road.

CHP officers said the Ford F-250 truck driven by e 31-year-old Burbank man was traveling at a high rate of speed on the highway’s third lane. Suddenly, the truck began swerving side to side and overturned. 

The Ford stopped and burst into flames.

Kern County Fire Department and Los Angeles County Fire Department immediately arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire and provide medial assistance.

The driver and passenger sustained major injuries. They were both airlifted to a hospital where the passenger died.

Troopers said both men were wearing seatbelts when the collision happened.

Meanwhile, the authorities are investigating and said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the fatal collision.
