Transit Bus Rear-Ends Car Leading to Deadly 4-Vehicle Crash on 215 Freeway in Murrieta
MURRIETA, CA (October 28, 2019) – A 30-year-old Menifee man died following a fiery multi-vehicle crash Monday morning in Murrieta.
The crash happened just before 6:00 a.m. on southbound 215 Freeway at Los Alamos Road.
According to reports, a Riverside Transit Agency bus rear-ended a stopped 2006 Toyota Tundra. The impact pushed the Tundra forward, crashing into a 2015 Nissan Sentra and then into a Ford F-250.
The Tundra then overturned on its roof and caught fire. The driver died at the scene. His name was not immediately available pending family notification.
The bus driver, a 26-year-old Riverside man, suffered major injuries including a fractured hip. He was the only person on board the bus.
Meanwhile, all six occupants in the Nissan and Ford pickup truck, complained of pain to the neck and back.
All freeway lanes were closed until 12:45 p.m. while officers worked on the scene.
