3-Year-Old Boy Fatally Struck on 24th Street in Pickup Truck Accident
SAN JOSE, CA (June 24, 2019) – Late Saturday morning, a 3-year-old boy was fatally struck on 24th Street and Santa Clara Street.
The accident happened at the intersection of South 24th Street and East Santa Clara Street, just before 10:00 a.m.
According to the police, the boy and his mother pulled into a parking lot near a business at the intersection. The mother walked into a nearby store while her son got out of his mother’s parked vehicle. The boy then walked into the lot. Shortly after, a 2012 Nissan pickup struck him.
The pickup driver transported the boy and his mother to Regional Medical Center. Police responded there just after 10:00 a.m. Saturday, police stated.
The child was later transported to Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, where he died.
The driver cooperated with the investigation, according to the police. Officers said that neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to have played a role in this incident.
The boy’s identity was not immediately released Saturday. Police will release additional information as it comes in.
