1 Person Dies After 3-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 40 in Albuquerque 

Albuquerque, NM (September 20, 2024) – On Friday, one person died in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 40.

At 4:40 PM, the Albuquerque Police Department and Albuquerque Fire Rescue responded to a crash on I-40 Eastbound at the Big I. 

According to NM Roads, the crash occurred near mile marker 159. Upon arrival, APD and AFR reportedly found at least three vehicles involved, with one person pronounced dead at the scene.

Police and Service Aides are currently blocking traffic on I-40 Eastbound at 6th Street, preventing vehicles from entering the interstate. 

The entire eastbound side of I-40 is now closed. New Mexico State Police are expected to investigate the fatal crash, but as of this update, they have not yet arrived on the scene.
