Child Critical After 3-Vehicle Crash on 114th Street SW in Albuquerque

Albuquerque, NM (October 16, 2024) – One child suffers critical injuries in a three-vehicle crash on 114th Street SW.

Just before 8:40 PM, a three-vehicle crash took place near 114th Street SW and Central Ave NW. 

An off-duty Albuquerque Police Department officer, who had been leaving the shooting range, reportedly came across the scene of the accident.

Upon exiting his patrol vehicle to check on the occupants, the officer found two individuals in one car with facial injuries. In another vehicle, he reportedly found what appeared to be a family, with at least one child suffering from severe, life-threatening injuries.

Bernalillo County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, along with Engine 14 and Rescue 14 from Albuquerque Fire Rescue. 

Since the crash occurred in a county area, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) will lead the investigation.

As police and emergency personnel work on the scene, the area around 114th Street SW and Central Ave NW will remain closed.
