Two Separate Incidents in Front of Antioch High School
ANTIOCH, CA (September 17, 2018) – Three students sustained minor injuries in two separate pedestrian collisions on West 18th Street. They took place Monday morning, in front of Antioch High School.
The first incident occurred at around 7:10 AM. A student crossing the street was hit by a Toyota 4-Runner which did not stop and instead sped off eastbound on West 18th Street. The young woman was taken to the hospital, treated and released with minor injuries.
Surveillance footage showed images of the SUV, and the hit-and-run driver was described to be a young white male. Police are still searching for the suspect.
The second collision occurred at around 8:06 AM while two students were also crossing West 18th Street, and were struck by an eastbound vehicle. Both students sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by responding paramedics.
Antioch Police stated the two accidents were unrelated even though they occurred within less than an hour of each other. The first incident was a hit-and-run while in the second, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
