Child and Adult Hospitalized After 3-Vehicle Crash on Route B in Columbia

Columbia, Mo (December 12, 2024) – A 30-year-old man and 3-year-old passenger sustained injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Route B.

A three-vehicle crash on Thursday along Route B near Route HH, just north of Columbia, left one person with a leg injury and briefly closed the road, which reopened before 5 p.m.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the incident occurred when a 2021 Kia Sedona traveling southbound slowed to make a left turn. 

A 2011 Dodge Durango stopped behind the Kia, but a 2002 Mercury Sable failed to stop and rear-ended the Dodge, pushing it into the Kia.

The Mercury’s driver, a 30-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was transported to University Hospital by ambulance. 

A 3-year-old passenger in the Mercury sustained minor injuries and was taken to University Hospital in a private vehicle. 

The driver had been wearing a seatbelt, while the child was not secured in a safety device, according to the report.

The Dodge driver, a 37-year-old man from Colombia, experienced minor injuries but declined medical treatment. He had been wearing a seatbelt.

The crash caused moderate damage to the Kia, while the Dodge and Mercury were totaled.
