3 Injured in North Sacramento Car Accident
NORTH SACRAMENTO, CA (April 10, 2019) – Three people suffered injuries after a car collision in the middle of Norwood Avenue about 3:45 p.m. April 5, near Bell Avenue.
Reports revealed that responders pulled out a man and a 14-year-old girl from a red Toyota Corolla. Medics then transported them to the hospital after a car struck their vehicle and pushed into a power pole. The two people sustained serious injuries. Authorities also noted that the teen is in critical condition.
A southbound black Nissan crashed the rear of the Toyota. Unfortunately, authorities are still unsure of the reason behind the collision.
“We have taken preliminary statements from some of the witnesses, and then our investigators will do more detailed interviews with them. It does appear that speed is and was a factor in this collision,” Lt. Bryce Heinlein with the Sacramento Police Department said.
The crash scene is near Norwood Junior High. Therefore, when children are present, the speed limit should be 25 mph, 40 otherwise. During the incident, that lower speed should have been the rule.
Meanwhile, the Nissan’s male driver, the suspect of the collision, went to the hospital with serious injuries. He’s the sole occupant of the car.
As of this time, the police did not make any arrests. Furthermore, the condition of the people injured remains unknown.
Authorities are looking into drugs or alcohol as a factor in the collision.
