3 Hurt in Santa Barbara Pedestrian Accident
SANTA BARBARA, CA (January 14, 2019) – Three pedestrians suffered injuries after being hit by a vehicle while walking across a street on January 12.
The crash happened at around 9:30 a.m. on Anacapa Street and Anapamu Street, fire Battalion Chief Mike de Ponce stated.
According to de Ponce, the vehicle was traveling south on the one-way Anacapa Street when it turned left onto Anapamu. At the same time, the pedestrians were trying to cross Anapamu.
The incident left one of the pedestrians with minor to moderate injuries and was transported by an AMR ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Meanwhile, the two pedestrians also suffered injuries but didn’t want any medical care.
The identity of the victims and the extent of their injuries are still unavailable as of this time.
Police Sgt. Chris Payne revealed that the driver, whose identity was also unreleased, is facing a citation for failure to yield to pedestrians.
The Santa Barbara Police Department is still conducting an investigation regarding the collision.
