3 Patrol Officers Injured in 105 Freeway Fiery Crash [Downey, CA]

Downey, CA (April 28, 2022) On Thursday, 3 California Highway Patrol officers were hurt in a fiery crash on the 105 Freeway.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash happened at around 1:30 a.m. near Lakewood Boulevard.

Reports say that the CHP vehicle caught fire after a vehicle collided with the patrol vehicle.

An earlier crash closed the road, and witnesses say that a driver failed to hit the breaks

Subsequently, the Patrol car burst into flames, while the offending vehicle overturned.

An ambulance took 2 of the 3 injured officers to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, the 3rd officer took their own before responders arrived.

Paramedics took a civilian to a hospital, possibly a 4th patient in the crash.

Officials detained a woman at the scene, but it is not clear if she was a part of the collision.

The CHP closed all eastbound lanes of the 105 freeway during the investigation.
