3 Pronounced Dead and 2 Hospitalized after Rio Vista Car Accident on Highway 160

RIO VISTA, CA (April 16, 2020) – Tuesday evening, a two-car accident killed three people and injured two others on Highway 160.

The Rio Vista Fire Department received reports of the collision around 7:00 p.m. on Highway 160 near West Sherman Island Road, south of Rio Vista.

A 23-year-old male driver of a southbound 2017 Toyota Tundra struck a 2001 Saturn sedan, driven by a 27-year-old woman. In addition, two male occupants were inside the Saturn.

According to witnesses, the Saturn made a sudden left turn towards the southbound lanes. It then veered right before it over-corrected back to the left.

The driver was unable to avoid striking the Saturn’s passenger side as it spun onto the highway. Both vehicles eventually struck the guardrail on the west road edge.

As a result of the impact, the three occupants inside the Sedan were pronounced dead on scene. However, authorities have not disclosed their identities.

Meanwhile, medics transported the Toyota driver and one male passenger to the hospital after suffering from minor injuries.

Moreover, the California Highway Patrol suspects that intoxication played a role in the fatal car accident on Highway 160.

No further information has been released at this time.
