3 Injured in Serious Crash on Highway 178 [Bakersfield, CA]

3 People Hospitalized after Crash on Highway 178 in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA (December 6, 2023) – On Wednesday morning, 3 people sustained injuries in a crash on Highway 178.

Officials reported that a two-seat ranch-style Gator vehicle carrying four people and a dog had rolled off the hill, ejecting all occupants during the incident.

Due to the severity of their injuries, officials employed stokes baskets to carry the patients a quarter of a mile down the steep and sandy hill to Highway 178 and Goodmanville Road.

Rescue responders from KCFD and BPD hiked up the hill and established contact with the victims. Three of the four individuals sustained moderate injuries, while the fourth person and the dog escaped without any injuries, as per the department’s information. 

The three injured patients were subsequently transported via ambulance to an area hospital, and no other injuries were reported.
