3 Hurt in Placer County Car Crash on 80 Freeway
PLACER COUNTY, CA (January 29, 2020) – Three people sustained injuries in separate crashes on 80 Freeway on January 28.
The two separate crashes involved six big rigs that left three people with injuries. The incident occurred just before noon on eastbound 80 Freeway near Nyack. According to Chris Nave with CHP’s Gold Run officer, a big rig driver lost control, overturned and struck the center divider.
This first crash seriously injured two people and resulted in a second pileup between five big rigs. The second crash left one person with injuries. A hazmat team also came to the scene when around 25 gallons of oil and several gallons of almond milk spilled on the highway.
By 5:30 p.m., the officials finally cleared the road. Meanwhile, a third collision occurred on 80 Freeway about 2:15 p.m. in the westbound lanes. The incident between a big rig and sedan occurred on Rollins Lake Road near Colfax.
The crash also closed the right lane for around two hours but has since reopened.
